Our Ocean Palau 2022

“Our Ocean, Our People, Our Prosperity”

Palau hosted the 7th Our Ocean Conference in April 2022. The Conference focused on Six Areas of Action, convening partners from across the globe to identify solutions to manage marine resources, increase the ocean’s resilience to climate change and safeguard its health for generations to come. 

The Six Areas of Action were: 

• Advancing Marine Protected Areas for Communities, Ecosystems, and Climate
• Tackling Marine Pollution
• Confronting the Ocean-Climate Crisis
• Creating Sustainable Blue Economies
• Advancing Sustainable Small-Scale Fisheries and Aquaculture 
• Achieve a Just, Safe and Secure Ocean.  

The Aquatic Blue Food Coalition at Our Ocean 2022 

A side event titled “Blue Foods: Crucial Component to a Climate-Resilient Blue Economy in Global Communities” was held on the first day of the conference. The event was co-organized by the Pacific Community (SPC), the Stanford Center for Ocean Solutions, the Environmental Defense Fund and the Government of Iceland. All stakeholders called for the creation of a coalition on blue foods.
