Building on mandates that emerged from COP27 in Egypt in November 2022, the conference hosted a large number of events and discussed important issues such as the global stocktake, the global goal on adaptation, just transition, loss and damage and the mitigation work program. The Bonn conference on Climate Change was the venue to make progress on important issues and prepare a draft decision for adoption at COP 28 taking place in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) in December 2023. 

The Aquatic Blue Food Coalition at SB58

The Coalition hosted in collaboration with the German Development Agency (GIZ) a special event titled: “Strengthening Blue Foods’ Role in National Food Systems to Meet Climate and Nutritional Targets: The ‘Why’ and the ‘How To”. It provided insights on how blue foods can help achieve global climate commitments while feeding a growing population. The keynote speaker at the event was Imelda “Dada” Bacudo, a representative from the UAE COP 28 Presidency team. He gave a presentation on the importance of food as a climate solution. The event was moderated by Karly Kelso of the Environmental Defense Fund , with participation from Dr. Michelle Tigchelaar, Stanford Center for Ocean Solutions, Dr. Tarub Bahri, Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations, Dr. Rohana Subasinghe, FUTUREFISH and Honorable Minister Koomson from Ghana. Martin Hoppe from BMZ and Stefán Jón Hafstein, Chair of the Coalition, also gave their reflections.
