Caribbean Blue Food Workshop 2026

The Caribbean Aquaculture Education & Innovation Hub, the Aquatic Blue Food Coalition, and Environmental Defense Fund are hosting the inaugural Caribbean Blue Food Workshop, held September 29 – October 1, 2026 in Kingston, Jamaica at Caribbean Maritime University.

This first-of-its-kind multistakeholder convening will bring together senior policy makers, scientists and researchers, small-scale producers and value-chain actors, youth and women leaders, investors, NGOs, and regional organizations to advance climate-resilient aquaculture development (freshwater and marine) and strengthen investment in the sector.

The workshop will:

• Facilitate dialogue on Caribbean aquaculture to identify gaps and priorities in research, policy, and investment, as well as opportunities for local science, engagement, and shared learning.
• Explore strategies for building climate-resilient aquaculture systems in the Caribbean through applied research and innovation.
• Strengthen collaboration between governments, universities, producers, investors, NGOs, development partners, and Caribbean communities.
• Elevate small-scale aquaculture operations, particularly those involving women, youth, and marginalized actors, as models for the future of the sector.

The workshop will feature speakers from across the Caribbean and include presentations, focused discussions, shared experiences, and practical case studies from across the region. The workshop will culminate in the development of a shared regional roadmap to unlock the vast potential of blue food production in the Caribbean.
